A good paint job to spruce up your SUV up truck may lose you more than you gain. A good job takes time, skill and equipment.

Why should you pay big dollars to have your SUV repainted when you can get the job done for much less cost? After all for appearances if you place both of these jobs side by side they may well look fine.

In fact, one may be actually be as good as the other – and you will be in the chips with the cheaper job. A low overhead , a low margin of profit and a volume business can make it possible for one shop to charge bargain basement prices and turn out a job that will stand up for years.

But cutting pries may also mean cutting corners. If you have ever painted a car or even a fence you know that a job takes time, patience and a good degree of skill. There are many chances for cutting corners. Failing to sand off rust for instance. Or skipping various steps in the process.

Here are some defects that might show up over time in a corner cutting paint job.

The most common defect is “Peeling”. Peeling is what happens most often. Sometimes the entire paint film lifts off right down to bare metal and you can see rust that was not removed. Or the sealing has not stuck to the primer coat or finish stuck to sealer.

Next in line is wrinkling. Wrinkling is a condition that you can almost always blame on the man or women who did the job. Perhaps too heavy a coat of paint was applied. Or the painter may have used a thinner that dried too fast. In warm weather this will produce a very heavy coat that will surface dry too rapidly. Insufficient thinner is another cause of wrinkling.

Cracking and checking may come from too much haste in turning out the job. Applying finish coasts before the coats underneath dry may well have occurred. Sudden temperature changes or the movement of body panels may cause fine cracks.

Should you take back a defective job like this – the painter may tell you that that “spotting in” would fix it up. It will not. The entire panel must be completely refinished.

Blistering of paint can be caused by a variety of conditions but if it happens soon after the car comes from the auto body shop you can almost always blame the painter.

Poor preparation of the metal always causes blisters and bubbles. Perhaps various steps were missed or fudged. Grease oil or dirt may have been left on the surface before painting began. Moisture or oil in the air line of the spray gun can cause blisters as well.

But if the job is done at a time of high temperature and humidity, be cautious about blaming the shop. These conditions may blister the very best paint job. Even nearby chemical plants or pollution can cause this as well.

How can you avoid such defects and problems? True in even in a full high priced job, some of these defects some or even all of these defects can show up. But your chances of missing them are far better.

Above all, know the shop and its reputation. If you are doubtful stand around awhile and watch. You might well do this while awaiting your estimate.

After all it is your SUV. Your vehicle is the best representation of you. Being careful and thorough is always the best policy.

The concept of Torque

The very concept of dynamometer is always attached with technology. Therefore it appears a little bit of tough for those who do not have any idea about it. So if a person wants to know about the ins and outs about the main principles of dynamometer operation, he needs to collate some basic information about it.

Actually there is a basic difference between a dynamometer and a voltmeter. True, both of them are measuring tools and both have to execute some functions in their own arena. If one can understand this, it will be easy for him to grab the other information easily and more accurately. Unlike the voltmeter a dynamometer is consisted with a pliable ring made of metal, which uses to bend whenever something tried to bend it. Its bending condition depends on the force that will be applied on it.

Setting up an engine would be incomplete with out using any automotive Dynamometer. The proper function of an engine is largely dependent on the function of a dynamometer. Therefore it has become imperative to have a dynamometer with a new motor to enhance its functionality. Adding up a gas analyzer with a dynamometer would be a perfect idea as this will achieve one to get a better result. This addiction will help one immensely to enhance the capability.

Transmission Dynamometers and absorption dynamometers are variant form of Power-measuring dynamometers. This kind of dynamometer uses a device that is largely dependent on the concept of measuring torque. A flexible or a special kind of torque meter is generally infixed in the shaft. Actually the burden which a motor or machine is carrying, is responsible for producing a torque.

The torque produced by a transmission dynamometer is starkly different from a torque that is produced by absorption dynamometers. Absorption dynamometers produced that torque by using fluid friction, electromagnetic induction or mechanical friction.

Using the break blocks can do developing a mechanical friction on the edges of revolving pulley. Then the break blocks are compressed against the wheels by fastening the bolts. This action continued until the friction torque FR balances. A water break uses another system. It develops resistance by the help of the rover flow. This water flow has been circulated between a stationary shell and a rotating impeller. At that particular time, the dynamometer produces direct current electricity, which is also known as the eddy current.

The concept of Torque is important enough to be clarified. Actually it is the direct result of the load of the spring or weight. Its distance from the axis of rotation is also responsible for determining the torque. Actually Dynamometers are used to calculate the production of torque by an engine. This information is needed to determine the overall performance of an engine.

All the information related to this issue is demonstrated on a graph, which can be interpreted easily. By using this graph the engineers decipher the essential information that they need to find out by using the dynamometer.

Global Electric Motorcars

America has always been a place of innovation, imagination and hard work. The professionals who sell Scotts Valley Real Estate know this, and also realize that electric cars are quickly becoming a wonderful form of transportation. If you're interested in learning more about the cars available today, continue reading.

One of the most media focused electric cars available in the United States today is of course the Tesla Roadster. As a real estate broker selling Scotts Valley Real estate, this is a car that interests me, though not as a work car. This classic sports car can go from 0-60 miles per hour in a very respectable 3.9 seconds, and can top out at a speed of 125 miles. The interior can feature satellite radio, Bluetooth Connectivity, and leather interior. Even the wheels are built for performance with forged Tesla wheels and performance tires.

However, just like any electric car, the real marvel is in the power sources. The Tesla Roadster battery consists of a microprocessor-controlled lithium ion battery pack that can provide over 100,000 miles during its lifetime. That, along with the 248 horsepower motor makes this vehicle extremely desirable as an electric sports car.

If you're looking for something a little more affordable, especially for those interested in Capitola condos, you might want to think about obtaining an Apetera vehicle when they become available. Priced between twenty thousand and forty thousand dollars, they are designed to function in the same conditions as traditional gasoline vehicles. They are designed with all the bells and whistles that you find on other vehicles including air conditioning. The solar cells used to capture usable energy to aid in one of the most efficient climate controls in the vehicles today. While these cars are expected to go nationwide, at the time of this article they are available to California residents only. However, once the company overcomes some of their logistical challenges, the customer service and cars that Californians have come to expect will be available to a much larger region.

While the Tesla Roadster and Apetera cars are great for trips and replacing the gasoline guzzlers in your life, sometimes you need something a bit smaller. If you just want something to run to the corner store or buzz around the neighborhood, consider a Global Electric Motorcars. The GEM E2 is a two passenger vehicle that is perfect for those short trips that you make on a daily basis. It has a standard 12 volt flooded electrolyte batteries, and can go up to 35 miles on just one charge. That way, on those rainy days when the bike isn’t looking too appealing, you can still go to the corner market without thumbing your nose at the environment.

These are just a few of the electric cars available today in California and across the country. Like anything else, the prices vary between models, and features. However, with a little bit of research and a test drive or two, you'll find the one that is right for both you and your budget. While selling Scotts Valley Real Estate from a hot roadster would appeal to some, only one passenger can come along at one time, so that is limiting. The four seaters will be something I'll look into when they go into production.

Electric Vehicles on the Market

With all the hype and then subsequent let down of the electric car movement many people are beginning to wonder if these cars will ever become mainstream or if they will remain the occasional oddity on the road. Many gas-electric hybrids by companies like Toyota, Ford, Lexus and Mercury are already enjoying some success, but true electric cars are still not capable of attaining the speed or traveling distance required to make them a viable alternative to the gas guzzling vehicles that many Americans are still driving. And the cost is still prohibitive for the average person as well. Saving money on fuel expenses isn't likely to help the average household afford a vehicle in the $80,000 to $500,000 price range any time soon.

Keeping Kurrent in the Neighborhood

Still, electric vehicles are getting better and there are some inexpensive models on the road from independent companies like American Electric with their Kurrent selling for around $10,000. However, this is not a family vehicle as it only seats two people. It isn't meant for cruising down the highway either, the manufacturers suggest that people need to "slow down" a bit anyway and tout this vehicle as a "neighborhood vehicle". This would be perfect for college students or people who live a short distance from work, but it won't replace your regular vehicle just yet. Meanwhile, countries like Norway have been driving electric cars like the Think which can go 112 miles on a charge at top speeds of 62 mph for years now and these vehicles are expected to hit US markets within the next couple of years for less than $20,000.

Innovations on the Rise

Most Americans aren't ready to settle for driving 30-100 miles on a charge and then waiting many hours to get back on the go and so the car manufacturers are still working hard to overcome the obstacles and build better batteries and vehicle designs that will extend the driving distance and increase speed. Ideas being developed include hydrogen fuel cells and plug-in hybrid. Either manufacturer are going to have to find a way to create electric vehicles that are comparable in performance and price to conventional vehicles or Americans are going to have to alter their lifestyles by limiting the number of hours driven per day and their driving speed. Since the latter is unlikely in the near future, automakers will have to keep working on new designs.

Weighing the Options

There are several good, inexpensive electric vehicles on the market right now for people who travel short distances to work or to the grocery store like the Kurrent, the Fly bo (made in China), and the GEM. There are also more expensive electric cars like the Venturi Fetish that top out at speeds of 100mph and have an equally impressive price tag at over $400,000 in the US. Meanwhile, it will likely still be few years into the future before the electric car becomes a viable option for the majority of people in the United States.

The American Electric Car

GM is not the first and certainly will not be the last American auto manufacturers to create a mass marketed electric car. GM did it in the 90's with the "EV" which was a success to the consumers, but not for GM as it was more of a test car. They are working on a car, the "Volt" which will be designed to travel 40 miles solely on battery power. Something like 75% of Americans travel less than 40 miles in their commute to work. So it can provide a clean means to travel and will have a small engine for those with greater distances. The Volt is highly anticipated to charge into American's lives.

National Highway Traffic Safety Association

Hybrid cars are quickly becoming a popular choice in transportation based in part on their better gas mileage and lower impact on the environment. In fact, their popularity can be seen as I drove around looking at Capitola condos; chances are you'll see a few driving around. Just as with any other new vehicle, though, there are potential safety concerns. The next few paragraphs will detail some of the safety concerns associated with this relatively new technology, and will hopefully help you decide if the practicality of hybrid cars is worth the investment.

Truth be told, the fact that hybrids run on both gasoline and electricity has no real bearing on their safety. Each individual hybrid car has been tested time and time again by various accident rating institutions such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, and Safe Car. Many of the hybrid cars are smaller in size, more maneuverable, and more able to avoid collisions. They also rank relatively high in safety ratings for vehicles in their weight class. Their safety, overall size, and fuel economy make them a great choice for visiting a few of the homes featured at a Capitola real estate broker.

It should be noted, however, that hybrid vehicles do present some unique potential hazards when they are involved in an accident or when they need to be repaired. However, by understanding them, and taking some commonsense precautions, the risks can be minimized. The first potential hazard to consider is that the high voltage hybrid battery and the vehicle's power train components create a shock hazard. While there is no confirmed record of a person being electrocuted while servicing a hybrid, certain precautions must be taken.

Hybrid vehicles by their very nature contain high voltage electronics. Because of this potential safety concern, high voltage cables and parts are usually color coded to warn of the potential danger. Unless the battery is disconnected, these cables should be avoided. As for the batteries themselves, all hybrid vehicle batteries have a safety switch or a quick disconnect mechanism. It is these and other safety protocols that have been instigated by hybrid car companies to ensure the safety of their clients, rescue workers, and mechanics. This is not a job for the back yard mechanic who lives in a Capitola condominium.

Of course, those who drive, repair or rescue accident victims are not the only people that should be considered when it comes to hybrid safety. Bystanders and pedestrians are also an important consideration. For many of them, one of the perceived advantages of hybrid cars could cause a potential danger. Hybrids cars are extremely quiet on the road. This lack of sound makes their approach fairly unnoticeable, especially by those with vision impairment.
